Med School Madness…

With John’s medical school years coming to an end, I’m finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The light being a. my own closet b. no longer having a hanger/pole in my car to tote my clothes c. only using my suitcase for real vacays d. A KITCHEN!

So many of you are probably already aware that for the past 12 months John and I have been moving on almost a monthly basis. Last spring we put our belonging in a storage unit & began moving from one city/state to another so that he could finish up his audition rotations. This has taken a toll on both of us in so many ways… I can’t even begin to explain! However, I think for the rest of my life I will have a new appreciation for having a ‘home’ and a closet of my own… and a kitchen! This month (in NC) we didn’t have any connections so we had to go with the extended stay option. :/ Many of John’s classmates have spent the past year in and out of hotels so we are very fortunate to have avoided that situation.

With that being said, we travel with the very minimal (or try to, John says I shouldn’t tell you that?!)… This 4 piece set from Corningware has been invaluable to us. We don’t have much space for cooking and we can’t tote our dishes, pots, pans, etc. around with us but these have been amazing. Not only are they function and great for serving a meal, they are nice & colorful just like I like! This particular evening we had enchiladas, guac, chips, & strawberries!

  1. I am so glad for you! I am in NC and I hope you found nice places to visit in this area. I can't imagine how difficult it has been for you being on the road all this time. However, the paid off is coming and I hope is a big one for both of you.

  2. Wow. All that traveling sounds exhausting and exciting but probably more exhausting. Glad the end is almost near. Those dishes are so cute.

  3. You may have your own closet/kitchen/home, but the hard part isn't over yet. Residency is no cake walk…for either of you. Having a nice place makes it a little more bearable though. 😉

  4. I totally know how you feel. When we first moved we had a transition period and we were stuck in an extended stay for about a month! We always talk about how there should be a better short term living market out there (one that isn't terrifying). So happy your close to a closet and kitchen!

  5. Ya, residency is going to be wild but we have had such a rare med school experience. I don't know anyone else that moved monthly like we did. And I think we Residency will be bearable for us bc we will finally be near our friends & family and I will have them around to spend time with and also be able to work. 🙂 I think we will really enjoy being settled down.
