Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Hope you all are enjoying time with your family today. We are in Ohio for the holiday!

There’s a funny story behind these pictures though -or our outfits anyway. The other night we went and picked up these balloons because we were going to shoot these early the next morning. We got home (and I was SO tired) and John said “hey make sure your blue dress fits!” So I tried to put it on and oh boy, it didn’t fit. Wouldn’t zip. Wasn’t cute. I looked atrocious! So we jumped in the car, got to the mall and split up to find something that would fit. John was literally snap chatting me blue dresses haha. I was like “John the mall is going to close, we will just let Fitz had the balloons!” Luckily, I saw this plaid skirt on a mannequin on display and was like “okay we are changing the theme – we will just do Christmas cards instead!” So yea, my blue balloon clash a little but we really wanted some photos with Fitz so it worked out!

I thought I’d go ahead and announce Baby Gemma’s gender today… we found out a while back when we did genetic testing so it is accurate, lol! But YES, it is a boy! And oh my gosh, we are really excited. Honestly, my whole life my mom has said “Emily, you know you will have a boy(s) right?” – mainly because I am so so so girlie and have no interest in anything boyish. Because she said that, I’ve always anticipated a boy. However, our doctor said early on he thought it was girl so for a while, I was only picturing myself with a girl! But, I’ve adjusted now and already have his nursery picked out. Cute boy stuff is really hard to find but I’ve already began scouring the internet hunting down the cute stuff!

I’m praying this little boy is just like John, lol! John’s the nicest, most selfless, precious person. I’d be the luckiest  girl alive if I got two of him.. but if he turns out like me we are in for a wild ride! Ahh.. I think I was really funny but maybe a little sassy.

  1. So happy for you two. Boys and their mommies. There are just no words decscribe the love between the two. I am totally girlie and we have a boy. All boy. Lol! So I can relate to what you're talking about. But I wouldn't have it any other way. He's such a blessing and he's my everything. You will be so in love with this precious little boy.

    xoxo Sabrina

  2. OMG, many many congratulations. I thought you were having a girl. But once I saw the blue my eyes got tears. You are going to be a wonderful Mom. This is such a special time for you and John and Fitz ????

  3. Congrats! I can't wait to see what cute little boy things you find. I'm having a boy in March (first baby for me too) and I'm with you–it's so hard to find really cute boy stuff but I'm on a mission! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  4. Congratulations you too! This was the same with me, I could only see girls because I am sooo girlie but I had a boy and he is so fun and loving, the sweetest hugs he gives..he is always wanting his mommy. He is the best thing ever. Cute boy things come and go I find things Carter's because literally they grow so fast, baby gap and jack and Janie. Etsy little shops have adorable things too!

    Congratulations again:)

  5. Haha such a funny story behind the outfits! I'm glad it happened though because I am obsessed with the Christmas look! Congrats on the baby boy, please share pics of his nursery when it's done because we are all going to be so excited to see! 🙂

  6. Boys stuff have come a long way!!! There are actual more cute stuff than you think 🙂 I was pleasantly surprised when I had my son 7 months ago and now love finding the cutest boy outfits 🙂 Congrats on your sweet little boy…just think about it…you will be the first girl he ever loves <3

  7. I'm such a girly girl and have TWO boys! I was so worried about finding cute clothes to dress them in but let me tell ya, boy clothes are just as cute (sometimes cuter!!) than girl clothes. You just have to know where to look! Congrats mama!!

  8. Congratulations!!! I am also a girly-girl and I have two boys (ages 3 and 6). I just consider myself the princess of the family! I don't have to compete with anyone over girly things, ha!

  9. You are seriously glowing and look more youthful in these! Also Congrats! I was hoping you would be a having a little girl to do little blogger photo shoot with.

  10. Emily, I am so excited for you!! I have never commented before, but I have two boys 7 and 5 and I was JUST Like you when I found out. I am super girly and only had a sister and lots of girl cousins, so when I found out I was having my first boy I was intimidated. What do I do with a boy?! But, oh my word!! I adore boys!!! There is a special love between a boy and his mama, plus they will never sass you like a girl would. Lol. Now that I have 2 boys, I know without a doubt this is what I was made for. Having boys doesn't diminish my femininity, it accentuates it because I'm the only gal in the family. I'm still the only girl my husband has eyes for! Lol. Boys are curious, loud, risk-takers, wild, adventurous, brave, messy. We are training these boys to be men, so I have to civilize them, but I never expect them to act like their girl counterparts…because that is not who God created them to be. I'm not sure how you will dress your little one, but I'm from the south and dressed my boys in smocking until they were 2 years old. It was the sweetest. I look back at pictures and I'm so glad I dressed them like babies, because they will only want to wear under Armour starting at 4-5 years old. And, they have the rest of their life to dress like "men." Take advantage of the baby years! http://Www.thebestdressedchild.com, smocked auctions, Cecil and lou, Kelly's kids, remember nguyen, etc. Sorry this was so long!! Congratulations! God's richest blessings on your BOY!!

  11. Congratulations! Such an exciting time and beautiful blessing.
I'm sorry it looks like I've entered three times but it wasn't registering so I tried a few times a couple different ways and then refreshed and it took all three. 🙁
    Blessings
