I’m a Wildfox sweater hoarder – I love love love them! Its what I wear when I am hanging out at the house and even what I throw on for casual outfits. Shopbop has a ton right now – all of which are 20-25% off so make sure you take advantage! The winner for that giveaway will be announced between 12-1 today! Details are in yesterdays post!

I’m so anxious for this weekend – I have SO much to do around the house. I really wish I were getting that ‘nesting’ feeling or whatever, but I’m not. I am so exhausted that I keep putting things off!! It’s bad. I had an appt this week at the OB and the baby is already estimated to weigh around 8.5lbs, lol. Yikes. The doctor didn’t even say out loud, he just pointed, and goes “well, we do over estimate… but… Emily, this is not a little baby.” We have friends that are due before us and their estimates are much, much lower. John was surprised at the estimate, however I wasn’t. I made a bet w/John that the baby would already be at 8 based on estimates bc my body is literally falling apart haha. I’m dramatic!! But seriously, when people say “oh get your rest now bc you won’t sleep for a while after baby”, I’m like, “really, bc I don’t sleep now.” (insert the emoji that has his finger on his chin like he’s thinking!) Although, I am kind of glad I’m already figuring out how to survive w/o sleep – my whole life I’ve needed 8 hours and I’m learning that I can manage w/o as much sleep. I’m trying to stay really busy so the next few weeks will “fly by”.. [the Doc says he won’t be coming early or making any surprises]. I am thinking this weekend I will start researching hospital bags and figure out what we really need. I’d love to hear what things are TRUE essentials for your hospital bag!

  1. Congrats – You are so close!! For the hospital bag, I would definitely say less is more. The hospital will have everything you need (literally. even disposable underwear – don’t bring your nice pairs!), so just bring any comfort items you would want (I lived in my splendid pj’s the whole time!). and a cute going home outfit for you and baby 🙂

  2. Love this outfit! Sometimes shirts that have prints look bad but this top is adorable. I also love the cactus one 😀

  3. Ahh I’m getting so anxious for your baby to come, this is so exciting! I can’t elive how put TOGETHER and amazing you look when you are so far along! I love this sweater, wildfox is the best!

  4. Hi Emily! Congrats on your date getting so close! You will see so many lists on what to pack for the hospital, and a lot of them tell you to bring way too much! i will tell you for me, essentials were 1) my own pillow 2) nursing tanks that clip down (pea in the pod brand is great quality!), 3) a cotton wrap robe – i basically wore this and nursing tank the entire hospital stay 4) Loose maternity sweatpants- also from pea in a pod – i brought leggings to wear, but honestly it was too uncomfortable with all the ice packs, etc) i lived in these when i got home too! 5) phone charger with a long cord so that it can reach your bed! 6) Make up 🙂 to feel human! Lots of love and luck to you, john and baby g the last few weeks!

  5. I was the same way! Grateful i couldnt sleep so when my baby was born I was used to no sLeep! Haha! At least when the baby is here you will sleep when they sleep! Right now you cant sleep at all which stinks! It will all be worth it!

  6. I just grabbed some stuff today for Hospital bag and post baby, and since this is our second i am Packing WAY less. Travel size shampoo/conditioner/body wash/Toothbrush/deodOrant. Its easier than scrambling to pack your everyday stuff right before. Comfy pants (pjs or sweats, no yOgas!), Nursing tanks/bras if you plan on nursing, if not, then just a comfy top or robe! Boppy pillow, going home outfit for baby (including socks! Totally forgot those for our first. Whoops). Then for home make sure you have granny panties, Heavy overnight pads, witchHazel, and numbing spray (im pretty sure our hospital gave me this. It wAs a lifesaver!!!). It may sound sIlly but depends are also a total lifesaver ?

  7. Make sure to pack separate bags.on for you during labor, one for after labor and one for baby.the hospital will give you everything you need for baby, so just a few outfits would be enough.
Labor bag should have SNACKS, camera, back up camers, music, lavender or anything else that will help YOU relax. We brought a laptop and watched Netflix! My labor was long!
Your post delivery bag should have your toiletries (you’ll want your own stuff to enjoy once your allowed to shower) , anything to fix your hair, I’d suggest compression leggings and nursing frindly tops that are comfortable. I thought tights that held me in were more comfortable, also, pack one nicer outfit for pics. I used hospital mesh undies so as not to destroy mine. Nipple cream that doesn’t need to he wiped off prior to feeding baby is useful too. The hospital will have breast pump and supplies for that. Most insurance covers home breast pymps too so you can order yours now.
Good luck! It is exhausting and wonderful!

  8. Have you looked into placenta encapsulation? I didnt do it with my first two but i did it with my youngest and it helped so much with post partum depression and it helped give me energy. Those pills were my holy grail for the first Couple of months and i was so sad when i ran out! Highly suggest Looking into it if you havent already 🙂

  9. Hospital bag. A few outfits for baby, his going home outfit. The little aDen and anis blanket i packed a few of those. Along with binkies because i wanted him to get use to The kind i liked. DIapers, wIpes and shampoo and stuFf like the nasel sucker they have the hOspital nasel thing is the beSt ask for eXtras!!! Your bag is important. You need jammies, a going home outfit like Leggings and a comfy top. A robe- life saver!!! Hormones are crazy and you get like night sweats. You need underwear two sizIng Two big becaus the hospital undies arnt comfy. Big Pads. And your nipple Pads also in case you Start leaking. Your breast Pump to get things going. Hair shampoo, bOdy wash, i didnt do my hair or makeup becauSei Was super tierd. And your make up bag. Kind of like yoi are packing for a hotel lol

  10. YOU WON’T SLEEP THE FIRST FEW WEEKS, BUT A BIGGER BABY IS BETTER BECAUSE ONCE THEY HIT 12 LBS THEY CAN SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT 🙂 ORDER THE BOOK “MOM’S ON CALL” IT IS MY BIBLE, SERIOUSLY BEST BOOK EVER. I READ SO MANY AND THIS BOOK IS THE TICKET. MY BABY HAS SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT SINCE SHE WAS THREE MONTHS OLD. IT’S ALL ABOUT A SCHEDULE! EXCITED FOR YOU!

  11. True essentials = your own towels and flip flops for the shower. 100% must HAVES! As much as you want to bring all the pretties, don’t bother! Go for Comfy pjs you don’t care about and socks!

  12. I had 7 cute kiddos and HOSPITAL bag essentials are really warm socks, a very stretchy OUTFIT to go home in- shoes that accomodaTe very swOllen feet (just incase) a baby outfit. AfteR that its Just comfort stuff you want. Honestly all your traveling makes you Very well equipped to pack this hospital bag.

  13. How can i see othEr postS? And is everyone’s letters coming out all caps?
Some people get lots of sleep after The baby comes because their little one gets in. RoutinE and sleeps well. Hopefully you will be the same.

  14. Hi emily! Im in my first trimester with my second and The morning sickness is awful. Wasnt nearly as bad with my first. Just wanted you to know that i love reading your blog and baby updates. It has motivated me to keep it together even when i feel ill bc i know you havent Felt well your entire pregnancy. Also want you to know to hang in there bc my son is the biggest blessing i have ever received and it really is true, you will love Your baby boy more than you can EveR imagine. So much that you will be willing to do it a second time! Take care!

  15. There are so many blogs about what to include in your hospital bag and all of them go overboard. My neccessities included my ugg slippers, ipad, Smiths lip salve/lip balm, hard candies to suck on during labor (beCause They starve you with the excepTion of popsicles!), my own pillow, and my own toiletries. I packed adorable Nursing pajamas and robes and frankly didn’t use them. I was way more comfortable in nursing tanks and sweats. Good luck, momma! Wishing you a smooth rest of your pregnancy and delivery!

  16. You look so great Emily! seriously girl you are all baby bump ant that is it!!!! I finally got the lash serum you suggested… i love it!!!!!! WISHING you all the best!!!!

    xo’s from AZ

  17. I love wildfox too. my granddaughter has several in her size too. they are so soft and washable.. good luck on your upcoming new arrival..

  18. definitely YOUR STANDARD TOILETRIES (SHAMPOO, CONDITIONER, FACE WASH, MOISTURIZERS, LOTION, TOOTHBRUSH, TOOTHPASTE AND RAZOR), AS WELL AS MAKEUP (I WAS GLAD i HAD SOME ON IN THE MILLION OF HOSPITAL PICTURES THAT WERE TAKEN WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

i brought my own hospital gown (a nursing one – if you choose to breastfeed you should absolutely have nursing tank tops, bras, etc.) and found the hospital ones were better. it may be nice to have that option. Also some flip flops to wear in the shower and around the hospital when you are taking walks to get out of your room is nice.

YOU STILL LOOK ABOUT 6 MONTHS PREGNANT WHEN LEAVING THE HOSPITAL, SO BRING MATERNITY CLOTHES TO WEAR HOME.

Regardless of c section or vaginal birth, you will want underwear that can support a pad and doesn’t hit you right where most underwear does.

  19. i ALWAYS MADE MY HUBBY A FUN LITTLE BAG OF TREATS WITH EACH OF MY 4 KIDDOS. i FIGURED I WAS GOING TO BE TOUGH ON HIM SO AT LEAST HE HAD SOME MUNCHIES AS i KNEW HE WOULD NOT LEAVE MY SIDE. i THINK WE CARRIED LIKE 80% HOME BUT FOR SOME REASON IT MADE ME FEEL BETTER :). aFTER BABE #1 (i BROUGHT WAAAAAAY TOO MUCH), IT WAS A GO-HOME OUTFIT FOR A BOY AND A GIRL WITH MATCHING BLANKET PLUS HAT OR BOW (WE NEVER FOUND OUT . . . AND KEEP THOSE HOSPITAL ONESIES ON – THERE ARE CONSTANTLY CHECKING SO WHY BOTHER, REALLY), A BOPPY, NIPPLE CREAM, AQUAPHOR, CHARGERS, AND YOUR GET READY STUFF. yOU BE COMFY AND CUTE POST DELIVERY AND YOU’LL FEEL AMAZING TO BE RID OF THOSE SILLY GOWNS. sO EXCITED FOR YOU!!

  20. Pack whatever you need to get ready in the morning. If I forgot something, I had my hubby run home and get it/buy it. I also didn’t make my husband spend the night at the hospital. My thinking – at least one of us will get some sleep, ha! Don’t stress too much – we all over pack with our first one. Love your top!

  21. Bring a nursing tank top and a pretty robe. You’ll live in them during recovery and while feeding the baby every 2-3 hours. Having a beautiful robe allowed me to feel pretty while still being comfy (I’m a 2x mom) 🙂

  22. Can you do a review of the Croisette. I’m really interested in buying one and would love your take on the bag! thank you!
