Okay, so a couple of months ago (mid-summer, maybe?) I did a poll on Twitter and quickly learned that you all were interested in a review of the Jaclyn Hill X Morphe palette. In all honesty, I was shocked when I saw the results of the poll because there are about 2.1 million (lol, jk.. but really) videos on YouTube reviewing this palette and I didn’t think anyone would care to hear what I had to say about it. I think just about everyone loves this palette & if you are not up to speed on it – it has been selling out in under a minute when it re-stocks (or at least I know the first couple of times it did.) That being said, I never got to order one for myself because I’m so busy w/work, Luke, life, that I just never got the chance to set an alarm and be ready to order the second it went online. Fortunately, Morphe had our old mailing address & just happened to update it and get our current one so I ended up getting the palette in PR and I was SO over-the-top excited. I was anxious to try out the palette and see what all of the hype was about..
I know this is a random Sunday afternoon post but I thought I’d recap a travel outfit from Seattle that I had a ton of questions about along w/this review PLUS a special giveaway at the end of the post. I’ll start by quickly reviewing the palette:
MY THOUGHTS ON THE PALETTE
#1 All of the the colors you need in ONE palette. One reason I really love the palette is because it’s an all-in-one for me… I get so annoyed bc a lot of times a palette will have 4 great colors and be missing a couple of necessities. This palette has your transitional colors, your darker colors, highlighting shades, fun holiday shades, fall shades, glittery shades, etc. Our family has had to travel a lot the past two months and this palette has been great to travel w/ since I just toss it in my bag and don’t worry about forgetting a certain color.
#2 Insane color payoff & pigment– ESPECIALLY for the price point. I think this palette is $38?!?! I have a Natasha Denona palette that I paid around $150 for back during the spring when I had a 20% off coupon at Sephora. I literally have not touched that [Natasha Denona] palette since I received this one – this palette is my go-to now. I have seen videos of people talking about the price point of this Morphe palette and it shocks me when anyone says it’s ‘expensive’ because I feel like it is such a great deal. I am going to order a second one because I am ab to hit pan on a couple of my favorite colors (of course they are the foiled colors – SBN & Queen).
#3 Yes, there is fall out. I’m not a beauty guru or makeup expert at all. I’m farrrrrrrrr from that. However, I do get a lot of products in PR and I am product junkee so I am constantly trying products and comparing products. That being said, I’ve found that it’s rare to find a really good, bold glitter pigment that doesn’t product fall out. I always use THIS brush to apply my shadow & always spray the brush w/THIS before I put it on my eye. I guess that’s why I don’t see ‘fall out’ as an issue or draw back. Also, if I am taking my time doing my makeup, I always apply THIS product first because it keeps the shadow locked on ALL day.
#4 As far as packaging goes, I really like the packaging. I think the only thing that bugs me about it is that since it’s white I tend to get it dirty quickly. Like, I will do my foundations before I do my eye shadow so I end up getting foundation on the exterior.. obviously not a big deal but if we wanna be picky. In a video I saw on YouTube where someone reviewed it, they said mentioned wishing it had a mirror inside but I actually like that it doesn’t have a mirror. It would end up being a large mirror and I’d have to be extra cautious w/it when we travel.. plus it would end up having all the different shadows all over it. Fun fact: I actually keep THIS in my purse and use it instead bc it has a light in it and it never has dust particles from makeup on it – so I can see exactly what I am doing. That is actually what I am using in the photos in the Seattle airport to get ready.
JUST FYI: I have tons of travel posts! For TRAVEL FASHION, simply go to the ‘TRAVEL’ tab and under categories hit ‘TRAVEL FASHION’. There you will find posts w/outfits worn to the airport and any type of posts w/tips about flying internationally or flying w/a baby, etc. (That’s how you can see what kind luggage I use, what size Neverfull I prefer, etc.)
^not the best pic but my favorite foiled colors from L to R are Sissy, Queen, Obsessed, SBN, Meeks, & 24/7.
I know this is so random – but I really wish someone on YT would do a video using this palette to recreate the eye makeup look from the intro to Pretty Little Liars! I only know how to do like two types of eye makeup styles and I am a nervous to get out of my comfort zone but this palette reminds me so much of that eye makeup look from the intro… I think it is Aria’s eye. If you know are a YT’er and make a video using this palette – leave a link the in the comments so I can watch! 🙂

So, I mentioned Friday that I celebrated my 30th birthday on Thursday. I can’t even believe it. I thought it’d be fun to do this review right around the time of my birthday & make it into a giveaway. I want to give back to you all and say thank you for all of your love & support the past few years. I constantly pinch myself – your comments on my blog, Twitter, IG, FB, e-mails, etc. have turned some of the hardest days into the best days. You all have been so wonderful to me and I am beyond grateful. I was trying to get ahold of this palette a month or two ago and was having a hard time since it was sold out. I texted Jaclyn about it and she was super sweet and was like “oh I will send you 4-5!” and I was like “umm, ok!!”.
I’ll put the Rafflecopter tool at the end of the post which is how you enter – all of the info will be there! *There will be FIVE winners!*
