Umm fun fact (I’ve probably shared it on here before but it’s been a while!), when John and I first started dating – our first real date was to a Christmas function for my ‘social club’ & I wore a navy, sequin covered dress very similar to this one! John and I met as seniors in college- we attended a private Christian university. They referred to sororities as ‘social clubs’, lol! It’s kind of been a tradition to wear navy and/or sequins around the holiday season because of that so I am always so nostalgic this time of year and re-live it all. I will never, ever forget that night – I was a nervous wreck!! Which is kind of funny because I was not the nervous type – I *was* the super extraverted talker & John was always super quiet (roles are more reversed now). I had the biggest crush on him – I remember asking him to the function like it was yesterday! We had a class together which is how we met and I had just become VP of the social club so I had to attend the function [was not planning on going] and his little sister asked who I was going to take & she was like “you should ask my brother!”. I was sweating when I asked him– but he replied quickly w/ “yes, by the way, I was going to see if you’d like to get coffee sometime?”.   This happened as we were walking out of the class and when I got to my car I literally screamed and I drove straight to work and told my boss and everyone working! I worked in retail & they all knew I had a crush on him but when I walked in and told them they were like “are you going to wear that navy sequin dress?!” and I did! I think I still have it somewhere!

I told you – I get so nostalgic! Okay, moving on! We don’t really have NYE plans because John is working – it is something I am pretty used to since he has worked most holidays since we’ve been together. We may do something when he does have some time off though and I will be able to wear it! 🙂 Anyway, when Modcloth reached out about partnering, I immediately went to their section of sequin dresses (they have a huge selection of dresses!). I picked out THIS one (I am wearing) and also THIS one. I thought it’d be fun to do a simple NYE look – nothing crazy is required. Most everything is already from my closet. The sequin dress alone is quite the statement so the key is to have a warm coat & some kind of heel to go along with the dress. I wear gold hoops most days, but I LOVE statement earrings so anytime I am dressing up I take the opportunity to glam up the look with large, sparkly earrings. Mine are from Modcloth, but they have a variety of options to choose from. If you are going to a friends house to celebrate, consider taking a drink & maybe some flowers?! Or maybe that’s just me – I love fresh flowers! I’ll link a few of the other perfect NYE glam dresses from Modcloth in the widget below – there are a few others that caught my eye! (All black looks are also great – I loved THIS dress so much! You could wear it all winter really!)

Thanks to Modcloth for sponsoring todays post.
