OKAY! A couple of months back I was at Ulta and picked up a MAC lipstick from the new Powder Kiss collection because I’d seen one of my favorite YouTubers talking about it and I was DYING to try it out! In fact, back in January I went with the Lancome team to California where I met Karen [iluvsarahiii] who is a favorite of mine! She is the one who did a makeup tutorial and used a beautiful red on her lips that was part of the Powder Kiss collection so I was left dying to try it out! Initially I got the shade ‘Sultry Move’ – because it looked like my typical nude color but it ended up being a little deeper, richer – but perfect for the fall. I knew exactly why she raved about it from the first application though because its very smooth– which is not normal for a ‘matte’ lipstick. I love matte lips but a lot of time it feels dry or even worse… LOOKS dry! :/ This formula looks matte but feels like… well, like there’s nothing there! AND, it does dry out your lips. SO if you are matte lipstick lover, you’ve gotta look into this formula!

I did end up going back to Ulta a few weeks later and I got the shade ‘My Tweedy’ which is nude but has a bit of an orange tint – if that makes sense… maybe peach is a better word! You can kind of see it in the photos! They are not skin tone nude – they both pull a different color! I really like the ‘My Tweedy’ shade for summer – its a lighter color but it is not your typical nude!

I typically put gloss on top of my lipstick day-to-day but I like to switch it up and do a bold, matte look as a statement when I wear more simple outfits. I used to think matte lips look best in the fall & winter but I’m kind of feeling them for the summer… ESP since it won’t stick to your hair if its windy out! This formula feels like its not even on your lips – which is a game changer if you are at the pool or beach. Also since it is a hydrating formula you don’t run the risk of getting the dried out lip look!

Okay, one thing I did do was line my lips prior! I mainly use MAC lipliners – my favorite shades are ‘Whirl’, ‘Spice’, ‘Stripdown’, and ‘Soar’. For both colors in the photos above I used ‘Whirl’. I find that a dark lipliner helps to shape your lips and make them appear fuller! I always, always line my lips so that they look fuller but I don’t overline much because that can be obvious on me haha! I have to say Stripdown is my FAVE shade of liner of all time – its what I have used the most the last few years but I can’t find it right now… anytime I travel I pack ‘Stripdown’ and ‘Soar’ though. Also, one of my favorite shades of lipsticks from MAC’s regular lipsticks is ‘Blankety’ and I go through that quite a bit!

Thanks to Ulta for sponsoring todays post.
