Same thing happened to my type a personality when I had kids lol. I'm so much more relaxed in a good way. I struggled with severe ocd and while I still have it, it's become much more manageable since having kids (and lots of therapy lol). My husband is a D.O. as well so I get that life. He works as a hospitalist and the associate dean of a Texas D.O. school so we travel a ton and bring our kids everywhere. My first baby was probably on 100 flights by the time she was 2. We took her to NICARAGUA on a medical mission when she was 5 months lol. It's obviously much much much harder to travel with a second baby now, so we don't travel nearly as much as we used to (probably once a month). Keep up the good work!

Oh my gosh. I am a mother of 3 wild boys, a 5 year old who is about to start kindergarten and a set of twin 3 yr olds, with one baby girl on the way due in July. My Fiance and I both work full time jobs in the hotel industry and do not have a lot of outside help. I just wanted to say reading your blog watching your stories and seeing your perspective on things is so refreshing and gives me patience sometimes to calm down and think what would emily do? she's so calm and cool and I really look up to that. I'm about to have 4 children total and I still have no clue what i'm doing but it's nice to get a peek into how someone else handles situations, kids, and life. So thank you! and I absolutely love all your posts truely!

Thank you for this! I'm starting to think about motherhood and what it means for my personal life/career, and this information was extremely helpful. It's actually nice to know that you don't think it's necessary to read all those books in PREPARATION. I'm also slightly type a in my life, so naturally i want to consume any and all information about motherhood. it's refreshing to know that you don't *need* to. Also really looking forward to reading bringing up bebe. What a unique idea! I definitely used to think i'd have to stop what i'm doing to "mold to the baby" but after reading what you wrote, it's totally given me new perspective! Thank you so much, Emily!
