It’s been quite the journey, phew! I spent the last 2 years nailing the PERFECT lip gloss formula. 2 years for only 1 formula in 3 shades.. LOL. I wanted all of the “PROS” from years of testing high end and low end glosses the last decade. I consistently saw you guys asking about my lip combo back in the days of posting here on my blog every morning and I decided to try to make the perfect gloss.

A quick little Q&A:

WILL THERE BE A TRIO? YES! In fact, I recommend the bundle because it is discounted $7 and you do not have to pay the $5.99 shipping fee- we cover that. So you save $13. I’ll be transparent, I had no intention of bundling but it was John who recommended it. Over the years, as friends and family sampled the gloss, no one had a true ‘favorite’ shade for them. It seemed that everyone liked all shades but it depended on the occasion. I told John “girls just need on signature shade!!” and he said “you always have a different one on!” FAIR! IS THERE A SCENT? YES! I met a gal named Venita Aspen at a conference recently and she was wearing one of the glosses. She said “this is like double mint gum in the best way!” and I thought “perfect!”. The last time we visited the lab was to finalize the third shade. I was being a perfectionist and making this take way too long. The lab inquired about a scent and I said “minty or fresh” and they delivered. It’s got a cooling sensation and makes you feel extra clean and cool. Everyone raves about the feel and smell.  [I was in NYC w/influencer friends last week and we went out one evening and one of the husbands was complimenting his influencer wife after kissing her – and she was like “oh its Emily’s gloss!” SO, it is husband approved. ☺️ I think the feel and smell is fresh / refreshing.]

IS IT PLUMPING? It is not plumping. This was a huge decision for me and it all came down to the fact that plumping formulas tend to dehydrate the lips. We all love a plumped lip but often times you are a little dried out the next day. After discussing this with the lab in depth I opted to pass on plumping. I also knew that with this particular formula you all would see a lot of dimension due to the pearl pigment. It appears as ‘glitter’ in the photos but its a pearl effect that illuminates and makes the lips look larger and fuller. Its really all an illusion. If you all have seen the @GemmeBeautyOfficial Instagram page, you’ve seen I often layer two shades. The shade ‘Date Night’ in the interior of your pout gives you a lot of extra dimension.

IS IT STICKY? No! This was huge for me – huge!! I am a gloss snob! The whole reason I decided to create a gloss was because many years ago I was using a $53 high end brand and it was selling out only in the shade I used. I remember being ashamed at the price tag & thinking “for this price – it should do way more and be less sticky!” That being said, I HAD to have a long wearing, yet super high shine. Those two things were non-negotiable. It took some time but we finally nailed it. It will absolutely be long wearing. When I was sampling them over the last 2 years that was a tricky part. I remember last winter  I applied before church and then we ate lunch after church, I took a nap, and when I woke up it was still on – WOAH! I was so thrilled. That was a big moment for me!

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE? Okay, this is a hot question. What is so funny is that each shade was ‘my favorite’ for a minute. I remember fall of 2023 I wore ‘Date Night’ 24/7. My DMs & comment sections were full of ‘wait what was that gloss???”. Eventually it became GNO and more recently it has been ‘Girlie Girl’. [I have gone through the most tubes of Girlie Girl over the last 6-8 months!] I find that GNO is great for when you need a punch of color or maybe your lip combo is a little ‘nude’ OR you just need a single color to wear on your own with no lipstick or liner. The shade ‘Date Night’ is leading in sales at the moment! It’s the most pale pink but it does seem to be a a fan favorite! I use it to tame down if I go too dark with my liner but my mom who is a blondie looks amazing with just this gloss alone. I find that a lot of blondes love Date Night!

WHAT LIP LINERS AND LIPSTICKS WERE USED FOR PHOTOS? For me I’m in “Anywhere Caffeine” liner & “Creme Cup” lipstick. For Angela who is in all of the videos on the Gemme Insta she is wearing “Hot Sauce” liner & “Midtown” lipstick. The glosses will be amazing on absolutely any lip combination though! They are considered a ‘topper’ because they sit well on top of your lips to give dimension and mirror-like shine.
