Snapchat Q&A Recap // Part 2

^See full post on above outfit here.

Okay, I am only 2 months behind on this! SO sorry. I did my first Snapchat Q&A in January & the re-cap is here. I did my second Snapchat Q&A in February and forgot just couldn’t find the time to do a re-cap post. Honestly, throughout all of this, we were house shopping & then closing on the home so I was so distracted! Plus I was traveling non-stop (it felt like) those months. I said I would be doing my 3rd Q&A mid-March (I knew we were going to be moving into the house then) and I have been so busy with all things ‘home’ that I haven’t been able to.. BUT I think my 3rd Q&A will be coming soon & I’ll try to make it more fun.

If you are new to Snapchat or Snapchat Q&A’s… here’s some background. Obviously it’s a free app you can download and you can follow people and just see behind the scenes of their lives or whatever they share! My Snapchat is a lot of Fitz & then I try to check in and share new beauty products I’m loving or a new hairstyle I am trying. (My name is emilyanngemm on there!). The Q&A is just a way to ask questions and have them answered on Snapchat. I love it because it’s a way to address popular questions & topics really fast. I get SO many e-mails weekly, and frankly there’s no possible way to answer them all so I love doing this so I can knock out questions.

Anywayyyyyy… ha. So many of you have been like “hey what was that XYZ you mentioned in your Q&A?” so I like to cover everything here so you can more easily shop those items. BUT, I hope I don’t forget anything bc that was a couple of months ago – feel free to comment if you have a question about something I left out!

Here we go:
1. What matching did you use to get rid of acne scarring?
I’ve mentioned before that I had cystic acne in college.. like bad! It was all over my checks so I got the ‘crater’ like scarring from it. It was so embarrassing and for years I was sick over it. I tried everything within my means to get rid of the scars and nothing phased them. A friend of mine who works for a Derm in NWA had me come in for a new treatment (Hull Derm) and they did 3 rounds of Sublative and after the third round I forgot I even had craters! (Praise the LORD!) I am still very serious about skin care though – I don’t have perfect skin so I’m constantly trying new things!

2. What’s my latest makeup routine?
My latest make-up routine is HERE. It includes all detail on mascara. I use THIS primer & THIS mascara.
THIS is my go-to foundation the past 6mos. It covers EVERYTHING. The past two weeks I’ve been trying other foundations that are supposedly full coverage and long wear and nothing beats this one.
And I always use THIS eye liner. I just got a new one this week!

3. What products did I use for Accutane? (full Accutane review, here.)
The lip mask is here. The exfoliator I love is here. (PS. All of my recent favorite lip colors are here.)
4. What kind of dog is Fitz?!
There’s a full page on Fitz here. He is a mini golden doodle. He is 23lbs and will be 2 in August!!!
5. What products do I use on my nails?
I get the SNS dip done. It’s different than gel or acrylic! Its a new technique and not many places are doing it yet! My favorite white nail polish is THIS one.

6. What lip product do I use to make my lips fuller?
I SWEAR by this. It does WONDERS. I’ve had the same bottle for 2 years and I use it religiously.

7. What do I use to edit photos?
Lightroom. I use a Canon to shoot and it does a great enough job that I don’t do much editing. Just cropping and brightening if it needs it. 🙂 Also John does my photos.

8. How does John find time to go on trips with me if he is a resident?
As you all are probably aware, residency is crazy tough. John is not a surgery resident so his is not nearly as bad as others, but he does work 80 hours a week on some weeks. He gets a few vacation days every year and those are planned out 18 months ahead (so so so crazy to me!!). Also, I just discovered that residents have sick days (!!). I had no idea until this girl said her husband used sick days for something & my jaw dropped. All of our residency friends were laughing when I told them I learned that, they were like “yes we have them but you do not use them unless you are dying!”.  Anyway, if we ever go on a weekend trip (i.e. leave Thursday come back Sunday eve) its usually because there’s a holiday involved or something crazy happened. Like, when we went to Jamaica in February it was because someone was sick and was on nights and John covered the guys shifts so it gave him a Friday off (obviously there’s a lot more to this but its so hard to explain that I won’t go there!!) So we planned a trip super last minute – we didn’t even have a room at the Atlantis until we were in Atlanta switching planes! Honestly, I think the key to surviving being married to a resident is flexibility (& independence &.. lol a lot more!). We don’t have kids & I’ve created a job where I can travel & work weird hours to coincide with John’s schedule. It’s not easy but you just make it all work & let it become your normal. We’ve been strategic about all of the big decisions we make so that we aren’t miserable during residency. There’s a lot to think about.. (Sidenote I will work on a full post ab residency this spring!)

9. What platform do I use for my blog?
I use Blogger.com. It’s free & user friendly.

10. Tips on Blogging?
Honestly there is SO much to be said about starting a blog… You all know mine started by accident really. I am a trial & error person so I learned everything by trial & error. I never had anyone give me advice or help me, it was more or less perseverance & patience (x100000). The advice I would give is super cliche – like be consistent, be patient, & be yourself. But those are so true. If you want to have a blog, you have to create content that can’t be found elsewhere, you have to stick with it, & work really hard at it.  (I’m bad at sugar coating evidently!).My motto is ‘the harder you work, the luckier you get’. I work between 70-80 hours per week mainly because I’m working weekends & holidays. John spends about 5-10 hours a week helping me as well. (I’ve said it before, but I’m so grateful to have him help me! I couldn’t do it without him.)

11. What handbag out of all of my handbags is my favorite?
Definitely THIS one. But I also love my Neverfulls. (I purchased mine in store but there are places to buy them pre-owned.)

12. What brand of jeans are my favorite?
I own 10 pair of THESE jeans. They are super flattering & I have purchased back up pairs of them so that when one fades or the rips get too big I will have them still!

13. What is my hair care routine?
I’ve been working on this post for MONTHS. I promise I’ll have it soon! (this spring!!) But I love everything out of THIS line. And I use THIS curling iron & wand. I have 4 barrels I switch out depending on the day and what look I am going for..

Okay! So I think that’s about it on the questions that I can remember and that were asked most prevalently. Hope this helps!! xx.

  2. I have to agree with Lily Rose. I love watching your Snapchat sessions – especially your Q&As. Thank you so much for doing them. I've purchased some of the same products as you and they have been such life changers for me. (as Lily said "where have you been all my life?!") Have a great weekend!

  3. Hard work pays off! It's amazing to see how you have evolved over the years and where you both are today, a testament to both you giving loving and being kind to one another. LOVE the snapchast Q&As , and just your love your everyday ones too. xoxoxo

  4. Hard work pays off! It's amazing to see how you have evolved over the years and where you both are today, a testament to both you giving loving and being kind to one another. LOVE the snapchast Q&As , and just your love your everyday ones too. xoxoxo

  5. Oh my gosh, too funny that yesterday I commented on your outfit post how much I love your snapchat and today's post is based on Snapchat! I am not surprised that lots of others also love snap story and that you get a lot of questions! 🙂

I just restarted checking in on your blog more frequently again (I was super busy this past fall/winter with my wedding and a big move so I wasn't checking on any of the blogs I usually follow) and I didn't even realize til today that you did Accutane! I just went back and read your entire accutane post and have like half your recommended beauty products bookmarked to buy. So, so helpful! Thank you!!!

I did accutane when I was 16 and it worked wonders for me! I had horrible cystic crater-causing acne too, so I can totally relate to your struggle. But then when I went off the birth control pill last year to lose more weight for modeling, it came back with a vengeance and I was so upset. I am currently on a long break from work (I'm on Spirnalactone and Ninacinamide now, which are working… but crazy slow) and am using the time to create my own blog. I think God was giving me the opportunity to spend my newlywed months with my hubby instead of constantly being away from him for modeling trips, so I know it was a blessing in some ways, but also really hard. It sucks to look in the mirror and see your face consumed by massive painful red lumps– especially when your job depends in part on you looking good, like it does for a fashion blogger or fashion model.

Anyway, sorry this comment is getting so long, but I really loved the post(s) and I think it's so admirable that you put yourself out there and share so many good tips with your audience. It's easy to feel like the only person in the world who struggles with acne, when in reality a lot of us do. I could also totally relate to people telling you to stop eating X or stop drinking Y or whatever when people really have no idea what they're talking about. Not to be blunt, but why were they trying to give medical advice to a doctor's wife?! Ugh. People are crazy lol. I had people promise me that I'd have perfect skin if I went vegetarian or stopped eating chocolate or whatever and it's so frustrating when people talk about things they don't know. I mean, I do notice that I break out more when I eat dairy or refined sugar or drink alcohol, but my acne was way too severe to rely on JUST a diet.

Okay, world's longest comment is coming to an end now! Have a great weekend 🙂

I also really appreciate it when you take the time to respond to comments via email or Instagram. 🙂 AG's are my favorite jeans too and I'm wearing my legging ankle jeans right now! 🙂 Thank you for sharing and I hope that you have an amazing weekend!!! 🙂

  7. Love your Q&As! I love how honest you are about how crazy it can sometimes be to have a blog, a partner with a stressful job and a private life.
And your dog is one of the cutes I have ever seen!

  8. When I think of Michael Kors, exotic materials do not seem to come to mind. Not necessarily a bad thing, just not an association. There is something about this bag that just looks so supple, rich, and creamy that michael kors outlet online I can not ignore it. The Michael Kors Ostrich Drawstring Satchel is bold and beautifully with its peanut ostrich body and Coach Purses perfectly accenting brown leather trim. The two shades of brown remind me of some creamy dessert and since I have such Coach Outlet a sweet tooth, it makes me smile. The top handles show off detailed stitching along with the rest of the bags Longchamp Bag contrast stitching. I am not always a fan of drawstring tops, but this top with beaded ties brings the bags goodness Michael Kors Handbags together in a way I can’t describe. The hardware and studs are golden which compliment the other colors and materials. On michael kors outlet the front, there are two flap pockets with extended tabs. I can’t figure it all out, but there is something so michael kors outlet alluring about this bag for me that I just keep looking at it and wishing it was mine.
