I thought I’d share photos of our formal living area with the whimsical, fun Christmas tree. Last year was our first Christmas to ever have a tree – thanks to med school/residency moving so I went all out. I wanted a really funky, different tree. I opted for a flocked tree because I love how the colors really pop on it. My sister is a master tree decorator – seriously so good. We are working on a little video to share of how she does all of it! Basically, she lets me pick out my colors and ‘theme’ and then she just puts it all on the tree and it looks incredible. I’ve been getting lots of questions regarding the other tree in our living room – it is a Burberry theme and it is super classic and very traditional. John really likes that tree a lot – he likes Burberry though, lol. I’ll share photos of that room separately along with the video. We shot this super fast yesterday bc John had a little lunch break so he ran home and took these. The lighting isn’t the best, but hopefully you’ll still get the idea. I’ve had so many requests for this posts and I didn’t want to make you all wait too long.
SO.. My sister’s big thing with ribbon is making sure you splurge on ribbon! I bought all Hobby Lobby ribbon last year, not knowing, and she tossed it. (lol). It’s like fashion really – you can wear a completely F21 outfit but carry a designer handbag and it totally changes the look and brings it up a notch. The nicer the ribbon, the better it holds up and looks on the tree. Utilizing ribbon this way is so different and fun and really elevates the look. The store where I buy all of my ribbon is in Northwest Arkansas and I think it costs about $40 a roll. This white flocked Christmas tree is from a store in Tulsa called At Home and it is 7.5 feet tall. We probably used 7-8 rolls of ribbon for this tree, but honestly, next year I will add more & change it out bc it didn’t look as ‘neat’ this year. I’m hoping to catch it on sale at the end of the month. My mom had to iron the ribbon this year because it got wrinkled in storage. Many of my statement ornaments are also from the store in NWA and other random decor are from there also. We got every October to get what I want before the good stuff sells out. *Edited- the little silver glittery deer are from WALMART! ($10)… the darker, larger silver one was from the store in Arkansas and it was $40!
I will make sure and link everything that can be ordered online at the end but for now I’ll quickly tell you all where the other details are from. The tree skirt is from Dillards (last year) and the stockings were custom made from a store in OKC. I actually snapcchatted that I couldn’t find striped stockings and the company reached out and said they can do custom ones! I just sent them a photo of the shape that I like and told them I wanted b&w horizontal stripes. They turned out perfect!
The wrapping paper was all random and last minute, lol. I’ve gotten them from Target, Home Goods, At Home, etc. The ribbon w/the deer on it is from Hobby Lobby.
