The MUST-HAVE Top For Hot Summer Temps

TOP: Free People (available in black & white HERE) | DENIM: J.Brand | SHOES: Sam Edelman | SUNGLASSES: Chloe | HANDBAG: Louis Vuitton ‘Croisette’ (similar HERE & HERE) | BRACELET: Julie Vos, Hermes | WATCH: Michele

This top is seriously a DREAM for summer – it feels  SO good on bc it is super light and flowy. The material is so lightweight (and sheer so just an FYI if you get turquoise or white!) so it was perfect for the Texas heat over the weekend. This top arrived as we were leaving to head to Dallas and I was so glad I packed it because bc it was crazy hot and it felt so good! And no, I didn’t steam it.. ahhhh (packing for myself and an infant makes me even more forgetful!).

I already added the black version in my shopping cart – it would be so cute w/cutoff shorts and wedges! The ruffles down the side are what make it cuter than you average tank!

Ohh, so we finally got Luke’s newborn photos in yesterday so make sure you check back to see them. We shot them in the nursery and I’ve had TONS of requests for a nursery post so definitely check back if you are wanting to see his nursery!

What are you all doing this weekend!?!??! Anyone going on vacation? I wanna know where! John has his residency graduation on Saturday so our families are going to be in town for that. I was thinking about doing an updated residency post if you all are still wanting that. The last post I did about residency was very popular so I could definitely do it again but more updated – let me know in the comments!

PS. The winners of the iPhone cases were announced at the end of yesterdays post!

  3. I’m so glad you styled those shoes today. the same pair arrived at my door yesterday (you influenced me). And I thought to myself I will have to go back and look at her posts to remember how to style them! Anyway, I have them in the red too because I love them so much! Even though I am probably older than your mom and follow lots of bloggers my age I still get inspired by you and other young bloggers.YOu have ageless style!

  4. You look so cute in this top! I love them like this, but admit I don’t ever actually end up wearing them, I can’t stand actually wearing my nu-bra or my strapless bra. oops!

I’m curious about your updated residency post, though mostly because i’m wondering what your family will be up to now that he’s finishing! I was so happy to be done with residency and fellowship, but the transition to attending is rough for about the first year. Tell John that looking around for an “attendier attending” after seeing a complicated patient is normal!

Also, about a year ago you mentioned using the Redken spray wax to help your hair hold volume in the heat. I think I got what you meant, but an updated summer hair post would be great (in addition to being a good post to fill in between outfit posts!)

  5. I hope you have a wonderful weekend with family! I’ll be enjoying one of my last weekends home for the summer as I am going on a huge west coast roadtrip at the end of jUne!
