Behind The Scenes Of My Fenty Beauty Makeover

^This is cool because once you find your foundation, this tells you the shades in highlight & concealer you’ll need!

I was talking in 90% of the photos John took! But this one really captures the beautiful shade of the ‘Ma’Damn’.

FENTY BEAUTY MAKEOVER

Last week I was given the opportunity to partner with the Sephora inside JCPenney & get a full Fenty Beauty makeover! You all know I’m a beauty product junkee and I am always trying new products & then revealing if it was a ‘hit’ or ‘miss’. I watch a lot of YouTube and I’d seen so many reviews on the Fenty Beauty line so I was so thrilled to be given this opportunity. I’ll go ahead and just fast forward to what I learned from YouTube.. basically everyone is crazy over the collection. I went to my local Sephora to try some products out when it launched and everything I wanted was sold out! Fortunately, I did get a package with their new Mattemoiselle Matte lipsticks and wore the red shade [Ma’Damn] quite a bit around Christmas time and had a ton of inquiries. It’s actually the same shade I had Elle wear the night she got engaged! 🙂 Sidenote: Fenty Beauty is Rihanna’s makeup line with Sephora! Fenty is her last name!

Anyway, John and I went to Norman, OK last week where I was given a full #FentyFace makeover! (I shared it over on my Instastories last week!)  As you can see, the final look was very different than my typical look! The focus was on clear skin & a bold lip. We skipped right past mascara & eye liner! Though it was different, I really liked the change. I think the part that really impressed me was seeing the primer & foundation work so well together! I could not get over how smooth & clear my skin looked! As far as lipsticks go, I really like the Mattemoiselle lipstick formula  because they are pigmented so a little goes a long way. And also because they don’t feel matte or drying in the least. They are a matte formula, but they are moisturizing in a way – kind of crazy.

In case you missed the Instastory of the makeover, I’ll just break down all of the products that were used:

We started off with the Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer and then used the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation (I was shade 109 in these photos – no fake tanner! 🙂 ). Next we used the Match Stix Matte Skinsticks to conceal, highlight, and contour. I ended up purchasing the Mocha Match Stix Matte Skinstick & their Precision Makeup Sponge! The beauty sponge is a DREAM- and the artist used it in nearly every step! When we left Sephora inside JC Penney, we had to head to Dallas and jump on a flight and I immediately got my makeup bag out and put the new beauty sponge in and threw the other one out! I also packed the Match Stix for our LA trip. 🙂

We also used the Match Stix Matte Skinsticks & Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo as eyeshadows which was so cool! The contour shades of the Skinsticks made great transition colors in the crease and the powder highlighters were perfect for adding a glitter look on the lid. Finally, we used the Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipsticks. We tried 3 colors – the first was an orange shade [Freckle Fiesta], the second was a bright pink [Candy Venom], & the third was a dark red [Ma’Damn]. My favorites were the red & pink shades!

  1. I know it’s a different look for you but I think it looks amazing! It’s a soft, natural beauty that emphasizes your skin which looks beautiful!

  2. It’s nice to see you giving a “lower end” dept store some love. it’s hard to afford everything a lot of you bloggers post from nordstrom. plus, there’s not one in ok, which you know that. but there are jcpenney’s and they are much more affordable. I have a few fenty products and love them!!

  3. You look so great Emily! I love this look on you! very different but looks awesome! I need to buy candy venom and ma’dam immediately 🙂
