Easy Does It

TUNIC: Astr | DENIM: BP ($62 – love these- recommend if you like high waisted!) | BOOTIES: Jeffrey Campbell | BAG: Celine (similar style here) | SUNGLASSES: Ray-Ban | WATCH: Michele | BRACELETS: David Yurman, BaubleBar | LIPS: Whirl | RING: BaubleBar

I wore this outfit more than once over the weekend – just with different shoes. It’s a simple look but we were so busy while in Dallas so it was the perfect running around & getting things done. And this top is super lightweight so I didn’t burn up since it is ridiculously hot in Dallas!

One more thing, since starting Accutane, my skin is starting to get really dry (which is nice for a change considering the extreme oil that I used to have!) and I finally found two products that work so much better for my dry skin: this moisturizer and this foundation. My regular foundation started looking kind of crazy around my pores since they are drying up (and closing up asap plz!) – just bc it was thicker so the new foundation is super light and hydrating but still provides some coverage. This is pretty much for my dry skin friends I suppose but I wanted to share just in case any of you have dry skin. Also, I will be doing updates on how the whole process is going for those of you who are interested. And as a disclaimer, doing Accutane was a last resort for my acne – over a period of 10 years and trying everything under the sun! And I am super aware of potential side effects.. (John keeps an eye on me!)

  1. Thanks for sharing those products with us! You should do a post on your experience with those products and what you liked/did not like about them…I would love to know!

  2. This shirt top is perfect for a casual day, and I love the nude booties! I was on something similar to accutane (the austrian version I guess) and it was the best decision! My skin did dry up, but the dermatologist also prescribed me some creams and a lip balm which were specially made in the pharmacy. These really helped. The only lasting side effect I have to this day is dry lips, and I need a lip balm with me at all times and use vaseline at night and it works great. Good luck with it!

  3. Love the outfit! I never comment but just wanted to give some words of encouragement. I have a very similar story as yours—I had acne for 10 years and absolutely nothing would get rid of it. It was horrible. I went on accutane about two years ago and I am so much happier and more confident with clear skin. My doctor always told me to eat fatty foods when I took the medicine (such as avocado, foods with good fat, etc because the medicine will absorb into your system better). Also get used to lathering on vaseline at night ha and drinking lots of water! Good luck and stick with it xoxo

  4. Hi Emily! Iโ€™ve been keeping up with your blog for almost a year now, and I follow you on everything! I wanted to say that I am currently on Accutane and Iโ€™m halfway done with it. My favorite moisturizer is CeraVe cream and it has worked wonders for my dry skin! If you ever had any questions for someone who is on it, I would love to talk!

  5. I think that your skin looks amazing!! This outfit is super cute too. Have you heard of Cloth & Stone? They make a similar shirt that is really soft. Along with a lot of other comfy and cute pieces. ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope that you have a great day today too!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. That top looks so lightweight and adorable! I have EXTREMELY dry skin and I've never tried that Mac foundation, but I have tried countless others. The new Too Faced foundation works great on dry skin!

  7. Hi Emily! So glad I came across your blog. I hope your husband is enjoying residency (if he hasn't completed it already), I'm applying this year and ERAS is giving me a heart attack! I'm currently doing a dermatology rotation (tons of Accutane patients!), and our doc always recommends cerave/cetaphil for moisturizing, and laura mercier or bare minerals for make up. Those have all been studied, and come up as the most hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic! I've been on epiduo for two years and just slather myself in cerave when my retinoid dries me up too in the winter. Anywho, my monologue is over! So glad I found your blog!!
