Fall Makeup Routine featured by top US beauty blogger, Emily Gemma of The Sweetest Thing.

MY CURRENT & UPDATED FALL MAKEUP ROUTINE

I am way overdue for a current & updated makeup routine. I am very loyal to what works & you will notice I am a creature of habit. Check out the BEST OF BEAUTY 2020 to see the top 3 best of all beauty products HERE or my previous routine HERE. Also, in regard to my beauty blog post – I polled my readers last year and THIS post was where we tallied up what you guys purchased & used/loved the most. I also see a lot of travel beauty questions – get all the links & answers HERE.

#1. PRIMER

e.l.f. Poreless Primer [This one is literally a holy grail for me and it is under $10 – I find it to work very well on my super porous skin! I use a small bit and more or less just pat it into the porous areas!]

Sisley Paris Global Perfect Pore Minimizer Serum Concentrate [I will try any product that says “pore blurring” and 90% of the time these products are not that good or not worth the money. This primer right here is like a secret weapon for blurring pores. It is crazy expensive but I may it last around 7.5 months total. I don’t use it daily – only on the days when I am shooting, going to an event, etc. It is CRAZY good!]

[Also have to mention, good skincare is really the BEST way to prime your skin for flawless makeup application. I would never apply makeup without my skincare routine,  you can read more about what I use HERE. This is an older blog post but for the most part the tips are there I am super into skincare after having dealt with severe cystic acne for a decade and nearly ruined my skin!]

#2 . FOUNDATION

Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation {shade 3.5N} This is new to me – just started this 2-3 weeks ago and the first time I used it I was like: 😮😮 and I have not used any foundation except this since!! It is incredible Hydrating. Glowy. Full coverage. Just insane. I can’t rave about it enough! I get so many compliments on my skin when I use it, too!  [Sephora Shoppers – linking HERE.]

Flower Beauty Foundation Brush [This is a Walmart find and I got it probably 2 years ago for a sponsored post and its still going strong! I did buy a back up because it is my favorite and I would be so sad if they discontinued it. it is that good!] *I do use beauty sponges to blend out foundation & concealer just FYI! The blue & pink one you see me use in stories is HERE! The reason this one is different than the ELF one is because it is a totally different texture- it is velvet microfiber. The difference is that it allows a bit more coverage. The e.l.f. Cosmetics Beauty Sponge is amazing because it is so soft & holds more water it picks up extra product which means you do get less coverage. The blue & pink [Favy Sponge] holds less water and is more firm so I blends beautifully without picking up too much product. So I use the Favy w/cream blush, when I cream contour/highlight & also with foundation.

#3. EYESHADOW

Fenty Beauty Eye Shadow Primer  [This primer is the only one I always keep in my makeup drawer and my travel bag bc it is so good. I dont use it daily but only when I want my makeup to stay on early AM – PM. I keep a travel size in my makeup bag because when we go somewhere hot and we shoot – this keep it sealed down!]

Natasha Denona Bronze Palette Eyeshadow [I use this for the transition shade, crease, etc. – brushes linked below!] PS. I also love THIS palette. I have been using it a lot the last few days. [*Edited December 2021 – the second palette linked is what I primarily use now- both are great though!]

MAC Dazzleshadow Liquid Eyeshadow {shade ‘Every Day Is Sunshine’} [Use this to prep your lid before adding a glitter pigment – makes it pop and stay all day! The one I used to use got discontinued. [*Edited- December 2021 – refer to THIS blog post to see the current liquid eyeshadow I use in case you do not like the MAC one! I personally find the MAC just okay but this new one launched around Thanksgiving 2021.]

MAC Prep + Prime Fix + Face Primer & Makeup Setting Spray [I spray Fix+ on my brush after I dip the brush into the glitter pigment. This is a question I get a lot about how I make sparkly shadows stay put an stay extra shiny!] Right now, because my other pigments got discontinued, I am using the Makeup By Mario Soft Glow Highlighter {shade ‘Bronzite’} and I apply with the Sephora Collection PRO Shadow Brush

Sigma Blending Brush E25 [Love Sigma brushes a lot- this is the one I use to apply the darker brown shade in the crease!]

Morphe Crease Blending Brush

#4. UNDER EYE AREA

I use THIS color corrector in shade ‘medium’ to quickly brighten the dark circles under my eyes. It is a salmon color which neutralizes the blue veiny / dark circles under your eyes and the was created to smooth the under eye area! It is truly incredible. It literally will smooth out your under eyes – this is a comment I get a LOT. I am almost 34 and I use good skincare but I also wear a lot of makeup so people often ask how it looks smooth and I think part of it is this product. Now, I do believe in good skincare & good [not dry!] products. I apply this with the flat side of THIS BRUSH. [Any flat, small brush will do! I just find that his brushes are practical since double sided AND they last a long time and wash well.]

Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer {shade 1.5N} [Easily on of the best concealers on the market – period. I am on my second bottle and I have an extra in back stock. This is good for all ages. If you are intimidated by concealer or under eye products you will love this. Its creamy – not drying at all. Covers beautifully and naturally. And best of all, stays put all day! Just make sure you set it.]

Tarte Shape Tape Glow Wand {shade ‘Sunbeam’} [This is a highlight & concealer combined & it is INSANE. Its something I have to repurchase because it is so good.]

e.l.f. Cosmetics Beauty Sponge [This sponge is hands down one of the best, ever. I am picky about sponges and have 4 brands that I really love their sponges. The e.l.f. one is most affordable at $6 and its what I use the most because it is good and is not expensive. Other sponges I love are THIS ONE & THIS ONE.]

#5. CONTOUR

Tom Ford’s Shade and Illuminate Contour Kit {shade ‘Intensity 01’} [This is an incredible product that I have used for nearly 2 years. It has the best cream contour! You use it with THIS BRUSH for contour jaws, forehead, cheeks! It blends so easily and beautifully. My mom even uses it! She thinks it is a magic product! The top piece is a highlight just FYI – it is good too! I personally don’t love a cream highlight though. My mom does however.]

Makeup By Mario Soft Sculpt Shaping Stick {shade ‘Medium Dark’} [Just recently purchased this after it was recommended a couple of times and honestly it is GOOD. Great color. Blendible. Easy to use and not scary at all! I blend it out with the Makeup By Mario Dual Ended Brush.

Artis Elite Finish Linear 1 Contour Brush [This is the brush I use for nose contour! No matter what product- I use this brush!]

#6. SETTING POWDER

Givenchy Prisme Libre Finishing & Setting Powder {shade 2 ‘Satin Blanc’} [I use this to set my underage concealer & foundation / bronzer.]

e.l.f. Camo Concealer Sponge [I use this to apply the powder.]

Hourglass Veil Powder Brush [I use this brush to sweep the powder off! I love this brush – it is actually high quality and amazing.]

#7. BRONZER

Laura Mercier Matte Bronzing Powder {shade ‘Soleil 2’} [This has been a holy grail bronzer for YEARS. I mean, since 2015?!?! I once forget to pack it and had to go to Nordstrom the night we landed to get another! I don’t use self tanner on my face so I have to use a bronzer. This is what I swear by during the summer when I am darker.]

Tom Ford Bronzer Brush [I have had mine for probably 5 years, lol! I did buy a back up when it was on sale in case it ever breaks! One of the best bronzer brushes, ever!]

Fenty Beauty Bronzer Contour Brush [I use two contour brushes – but for different reasons. I’ve shown on my stories several times over the years why I do this but I will try to explain.. bear with me! SO, the big fluffy TF brush disperses the bronzer so beautifully and evenly. But this brush is more dense & firm – also contoured. So I use this to stamp the bronzer into my hairline, over my nose, & also on contour area of my cheeks!]

#8. SETTING SPRAY

Morphe Setting Spray [I always fan my setting spray with this FAN from Amazon.]

#9. BLUSH

Sigma F53 Air Contour & Blush Brush

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush {shade ‘Surreal Effect’} [Been using this since I got it during the NSALE so it is newer!]

My favorite cream blushes are THIS ONE {shade: ‘Honey Thief] & THIS ONE [shade: Petal Poppin] – make sure you set these though! I always set with a powder blush! The Fenty one is on sale today!

For powder, I also love the Tarte Amazonian blushes, Sigma blushes, & the Dior Rosy glow blush.

#10. BROWS

ABH Powder {shade ‘Soft Brown’} [I apply this with a brush like the ABH Dual Sided Brow & Eyeliner Brush and it this is what I have done for years!]

ABH Brow Freeze [If you guys love the lamented brow look – this is hands down the BEST product for that – it is like magic, no joke! Only one that works on my crazy brow hairs. I have very thick, black hairs on my brows and they grow DOWN😩.]

Too Faced Pomade in a Pencil {shade ‘Dark Brown} [This is newer to me – swatched it in Utah on my hand and went back to buy it bc it wouldn’t come off my hand with their makeup remover! I use this on my faux arch- that micro bladed area!] The other favorite is HERE & I find that it lasts longer than the Too Faced one as far as pencil longevity goes – they both WEAR long wear but I run out of the Too Faced faster!

#11. LASH LINE

NYX Epic Ink Liner {shade ‘Black’} [For upper lid – to do cat eye! I like a lot of liquid liners though – but this is so good & it is drug store!] Also, if you don’t love drug store products- one of the best liquid liners ever is THIS ONE by Lady Gaga!!

MAC Eye Kohl Eyeliner Pencil {shade ‘Smolder’}

Huda Double Ended Eyeshadow Brush  [I use this brush – the larger end – to sweep transition shade from Natasha Denona palette under my waterline. The thin in I use to highlight my nose, brow bone, and inner corner! This brush is super super useful.]

#12. LASHES

IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara

Tarte Sea Curler Mascara

Tarte Man Eater Mascara

ILIA Fullest Volumizing Mascara

Surratt Beauty Lash Curler [One of the best lash curlers – EVER. No joke! It has sold out almost any time I link it – it is that good!]

#13. HIGHLIGHTER

Sigma Beauty Glowkissed Highlight Palette [One of the best palettes – ever! Holy cow! I use a brush like the Morphe Everything Blender Brush to sweep it across cheeks, cupids bow, etc. and then the small end of the  Huda Double Ended Eyeshadow Brush to do my brow brown and inner corner of eye!] [*Edited December 2021– if you are new here, I updated my blog weekly with new beauty favorites so clicking the beauty tab of my blog and following those posts is a good idea if you are just seeing my blog! For example, yesterdays blog post has the amazing new glitter I use on my eyes!]

#14. SETTING SPRAY

Morphe Continuous Mist || Holy grail old school favorite!

Lilah B. Aglow Face Mist  [I use this FAN to help it dry- *the other setting spray I used to swear by got discontinued but if you like a glowy look – this one is amazing!]

Benefit Porefessional Super Setting Spray | This is what I use to really seal. the. deal. ITS GOOD. Blurs pores, hydrates, and LOCKS DOWN MAKEUP! [You will see that I use this at the very end tho!]

#15. BLUR POWDER

Sisley Blur Powder [This is truly the most magical powder and step I never skip!! I keep back stock in this because it is soooo good. I just use a powder puff like this one and push the powder into my porous areas.]

#16. LIP COMBO

Huda Beauty Lip Pencil {shade ‘Sandy Beige‘}

Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Lipstick {shade ‘Kim KW’}

Buxom Plumping Lip Gloss {shade ‘White Russian Sparkle’} 🌟15% off today🌟

#17. FINISHING

BareMinerals Concealer Powder and Angled Brush || [Shade: Summer Bisque]I swear by this and many of you have also fallen and love and swear by this too! It brightens and conceals SO well! On top of concealer or alone! It is incredible. Keep it in your handbag so during the day you can clean up your eye area if you wearing sunglasses, cry/tears [allegies!], etc. The brush is made to make it all so precise and fit easily under your eye. The powder will work all of over your face, too!

Benefit POREfessional Super Setter Spray
